Welcome to the House of Joy

I hope you are finding ways to stay cool even as the corporatocracy heats our planet to record levels. At a time when those in power seem hellbent on crushing life, I am finding solace in the pursuit of beauty, expression, and joy. As many wise people have said, in various ways, we can’t let the bastards grind us down. So I am thrilled to invite you to my latest production, House of Joy. Y’all, this play is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered on stage. An action-adventure romance set in a harem in India in the 17th century. Centered on a female bodyguard who has to make an empire-shattering decision. And I play the Head Eunuch In Charge.

The stage combat will blow your mind, the costumes are sickeningly gorgeous, the beautiful women who lead this cast are beyond badass, the script soars with playwright Madhuri Shekar’s wit and is brilliantly staged by our director Megan Sandberg-Zakian. I’m having so much fun and I hope you’ll join us during our run at California Shakespeare Theatre from Aug 14 to Sep 1.
